Holistic healing is merely a method of treating your body's ailments with proper foods, excercise, spirituality and even mental determination.
It is well known that stress on the body physically and mentally will cause herpes outbreaks. This is mostly because the immune systems is weakended by demands to relieve the existing stress. The Herpes virus then gets its chance to activate and will usually occur at areas which you had previous outbreaks. Efforts to calm the stress are meditation or massage, Qigong, Tai Chi or Taebo and getting required sleep.
Foods high in Arginine (L-Arginine) will promote outbreaks and should be avoided (see chart). Arginine is required by the virus for growth and activation so high levels could maintain a continuos or very frequent outbreaks. Foods high in arginine include peanuts and peanut butter, chocolate, coconut, soybeans, oats, almonds, carob, gelatin, seeds, wheat germ, whole-wheat and white flour.
L - Lysine is one of the 8 essential amino acids, helpful in the production of antibodies to fight disease and enzymes necessary for tissue repair. Commonly used to treat symptoms caused by the Herpes. Most people take the 400 mg dosage for maintenance in the form of natural supplement pills and get excellent results combining Cayenne Pepper with Lysine. Cayenne can cause a burning sensation in the stomach for some people (especially if you have ulcers, GERD, acid re-flux) and should then be avoided. Foods rich in lysine include beef, turkey, cheese vegetables, fruits, beans, mug bean sprouts, brewer's yeast, legumes, fish, chicken, and lamb.
Lemon Balm/Melissa has natural properties that inhibit the herpes virus. Herbalist have studied Lemon Balm and feel that it is one of the best gentle tonics a person can use, generally, and may be specifically beneficial to anyone dealing with herpes and can be taken long term. The tea, which can be made from the dried herb or from a few drops of tincture, but it can also be purchased in capsule form.
If you already have an outbreak, these methods will help to speed the healing:
- Keep the affected area cool.
- Bathe the affected area with Peroxide for 10 minutes 3 times daily
- Do not cover with bandaid
- Do not scratch or break the skin
- Always wash your hands after as it will spread to other areas of your body or people.
